It will be ferrying up to 600 passengers at a time to view the Statue of Liberty in New York and produce 50 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than regular gas-guzzling ferries. World's oldest bowling place found in Egypt
Italian archeologists have found in Egypt what may be the world's oldest indoor bowling alley, Egyptian media said Monday.
A large room, with a shallow lane running through into a pit and two heavy stone balls lying nearby, was found at an ancient place locate in the province of Al-Fayyum, 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Cairo, and appears to be man's first attempt to create an area for a game that was to become the prototype for modern-day bowling, archeologists taking part in the excavations were reported as saying.
The place dates back to the Ptolemaic era, which began in 332 B.C with Ptolemy I Soter declaring himself Pharaoh of Egypt following Alexander the Great's conquest, and ended with the Roman conquest in 30 B.C.

After years of development, a model of the human body now lives in what the university calls a Cave Automated Virtual Reality Environment, said Dr. Grant Gall, dean of the faculty of medicine.
This project is a major breakthrough," he said at yesterday's unveiling of their CAVEman, a project six years in the making.

US Carbon Dioxide emissions down 1.3% in '06
U.S. carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels decreased by 1.3 percent in 2006, from 5,955 million metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2005 to 5,877 in 2006, according to preliminary estimates released today by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The economy, as measured by Gross Domestic Product, grew by 3.3 percent and energy demand fell by 0.9 percent indicating that energy intensity (energy use per unit of GDP) fell by 4.2 percent. Carbon dioxide intensity (CO2 emission per unit of GDP) fell by 4.5 percent.
Factors that drove emissions lower include weather conditions that reduced the demand for heating and cooling services; higher energy prices for natural gas, motor gasoline, and electricity, that reduced energy demand; and the use of a less carbon-intensive fuel mix (more natural gas and non-carbon fuels) in the generation of electricity.
Through 2006, total U.S. energy-related carbon dioxide emissions have grown by 17.9 percent since 1990. Energy-related carbon dioxide emissions account for over 80 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions

12-You can work offline in Firefox just go to File > Work Offline. Thismeans that you can browse your previously visited pages even whenyou’re offline this is a really cool feature but not many people who use it.
13-You can bookmark the current page by dragging the icon from thelocation bar to your Bookmarks folder. You can also drag it to thedesktop to make an icon for that page.
14-To stop animated gifs from moving, press the ESC key.

Envisat making sharpest satellite map of Earth
The European Space Agency's GlobCover project has revealed the most detailed portraits ever of the Earth's land surface. Using around 40 Terabytes of images (an amount of data equivalent to the content of 40 million books) taken from the ESA's Envisat, the maps, ten times sharper than anything produced previously, the GlobCover maps will have numerous uses, including plotting worldwide land use trends, studying natural and managed ecosystems and modelling climate change extent and impacts.

Explorer beat heights with Himalayan record
Bear Grylls has ambition, pushing body and mind to their limit in pursuit of improbable feats of endurance.
The explorer, whose first encounter with Everest was when he reached the summit only three years after breaking his back in three places, survived temperatures of -76F (-60C) and dangerously low oxygen levels to reach 29,500ft. His achievement is almost 10,000ft higher than the previous powered paraglide record, although the record is yet to be independently verified.
With 120lb of survival kit and oxygen on their backs, and 18 months of training behind them, they soared into the freezing atmosphere at speeds of 75mph.
At 28,000ft Mr Cardozo's engine stopped and he was forced down, but Mr Grylls climbed a further 1,500ft and looked over the mountain which almost claimed his life in 1998. "It was a very proud moment when I saw the summit again," he said. "I forgot how intimidating it can be."

KTM X-Bow - New Lightweight Sports Car
The prototype of a new lightweight sports car at the coming Geneva Motor Show: the X-Bow.
This compact, purist two-seater will have a carbon fibre chassis and a modern four-cylinder FSI turbo engine from Audi.
Thanks to the basic version’s light weight and the 162 kW (220 hp) Audi TFSI engine, the performance values of the KTM X-Bow outstrip those of super-sport cars with more than twice the power: with a deadweight of approx. 700 kilos, the KTM X-Bow accelerates to 100 kph in just 3.9 seconds.
The KTM X-Bow will be street homologated in accordance with European small series homologation regulations. But since the respective guidelines are defined differently throughout the EU, KTM currently anticipates standardising the X-Bow in the following countries: Germany, Finland, Greece, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and Switzerland.
